WATERTOWN
A Hertfordshire-Based Band
BIO
Behind the Music
Watertown are a four-piece band formed by young musicians in Hertforshire in early 2018. Personal inspiration within the band ranges in genre, from folk to funk, singer songwriter to soul. Together, they have combined these influences to form a summery sound inspired by elements of bands such as Cassia, the Parcels, and Beatenberg. Described as “bending the rules on how many instruments you can have in one band”, Watertown enjoy playing what they coin 'musical chairs', switching instruments for a greater diversity of sound and fun for the audience - sometimes mid song, for added challenge. Amongst these are fiddle, banjo, trumpet, alto and tenor saxophone, djembe, kalimba, cajon and ukulele amongst the standard guitar, keyboard, bass and drums (also a wooden frog once). Watertown released their first official single 'Jellyfish' in Jan 2020, with a new single 'Car CDs' released on 25th July 2020. They have been played on various radio stations across the country, from BBC 3 Counties to YO1 Radio to Islands FM.
We are also still in full-time higher education alongside our musical passions, and are spread across the country (Hertfordshire, Derby, Nottingham, and York). This means we are able to accommodate gigs and festivals across the country. We come with our own full PA speaker system and are available for bookings this year - drop us a message for more info.
